Fur or Feathers

 

Hi - it’s me again, Neet from Hickydorums.  I was so pleased when I was asked again to be Guest Host for another month on Art Journal Journey.  This time I went for something which I hope is easy for everyone and chose  "Fur and/or Feathers" as my theme for the month.  Most of us have a love of animals or birds and so that is what it is all about.  Not all animals have fur though, but I did find out in my research that despite us always thinking of dogs as having hair in fact most of them have fur too. Underneath the hairs on top lie a layer of soft downy-like fur that acts as an insulating layer.  Sadly I don’t have any pets now,  but I know some of you do have cats and dogs, how lovely would it be to feature your furry friend in a journal page?

 

You are not only restricted to birds and animals, if you think of it fur and feathers are used in lots of different ways.  A lovely quill pen would look elegant on my desk but sadly crafting takes over the whole space, still I can dream and make a page featuring one.  Then there are the elegant ladies of the 20’s and 30’s who often wore feather boas or a fur stole as part of their lovely costumes.  The designer, Erté, often used props of fur and feathers in his stage design and the beautiful couture clothing he designed for the ladies.  

 

Traveling abroad we can see lots of people who wear fur and/or feathers in their costumes.  Africa, Australia, the Far East spring to mind - once we start looking there is fur and feathers everywhere.  I hope you find lots to do with this theme, no doubt you will have lots of surprises for me.
